Q: How much does a pump cost?
A: Our standard charge is $400.00 for approximately 2000 gallons. Prices may vary depending on situations and conditions of the septic system and/or seepage pit.
Q: How do I find my septic system?
A: There are several methods:
1. Look for manholes or standpipes that surface.
2. Use a camera or electronic locator.
3. Check city hall records.
4. Investigative methods such as probes and pipe locations. If there is no visible access, excavations may be necessary to locate your septic system.
Q: How long does the pumping process take?
A: In most cases, if there is direct access to the septic tank (i.e., manholes), it takes no longer than 45 minutes to pump out the septic tank.
Q: If I am having my septic system pumped on a frequent basis, what can I do?
A: Pumping frequently indicates that your septic system may be failing or has reached the end of its lifespan. There is a cheaper and more cost-effective way to solve your failing system’s problem, other than drilling and testing for a new seepage pit.
1. A Pirana (aerobic bacteria generator) can be installed in any cesspool or septic tank. This Pirana generates aerobic bacteria, which eats the solid wastes in the septic tank or cesspool. In search of food, it works its way through the soils surrounding the seepage pits or leech lines and allows them to successfully percolate water into the soil. Piranas do not require permits or approvals from the county of Los Angeles, city of Los Angeles, or Los Angeles County Health Department.
Q: How much in advance should I call to schedule an appointment?
A: In most cases, we do same-day pumping, but it is recommended that you call at least one day in advance. Emergency services are available.
Q: How do I know when I need to have my system pumped?
A: There are a few signs to look for that will let you know it’s time to pump:
1. You will smell the odor, if outside.
2. In some cases, you can see the waste seeping out from the manhole.
3. You will often hear a gurgling sound coming from the toilets.
4. The toilets and showers will back up.
5. You will have a slow-draining shower and toilet.
Q: How much does a manhole installation cost?
A: Manhole installation costs are based on time and material. Your septic tank can be located anywhere from 6 inches to 7 feet below the surface. The kind of soil you have (e.g., hard, clay, rocky, muddy, soft, etc.) determines the amount of time it takes to get to the top of your tank.
Uniform Plumbing Code requires every home with a septic tank have 18- to 24-inch access ports installed in the surface on both sides of the septic tank.
Q: How much is a new septic system?
A: New septic systems can be very expensive. Traditional systems can run between $20,000 and $50,000 or more depending on several different factors. The new advanced systems can run anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000 or more depending on conditions and requirements.
Q: Do you do written inspections / letters of certification, and how much does each service cost?
A: Yes.
1. Written inspections: $275
2. Certifications: $375
